Dr. Kelly Pigott, professor of church history, is a graduate of Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama, where he received a B.A. with honors in English and religion. At Samford he received the Herman Ross Arnold Award for the outstanding graduating senior in the Religion Department.
He completed his graduate studies at Southwestern Seminary in Fort Worth, TX, receiving a Master of Divinity as a President’s Scholar. He also received a Ph.D. in church history. He has over 30 years of experience as a pastor at various churches. He serves on the editorial board of the Baptist History and Heritage Journal.
In addition to many articles published in Texas Baptist History Journal, Baptist History and Heritage Journal, and Review and Expositor, he has contributed chapters to Witnesses to the Baptist Heritage (Mercer), and Phyllis Tickle: Evangelist of the Future (Paraclete). From Eden to Heaven: Spiritual Formation for the Adventurous is forthcoming by Smyth and Helwys. He was a regular contributor at Patheos and currently blogs at spilledcoffeeonancientscrolls.com
